Trust: security, sub-processors and data

Security overview

Servers and the database run at Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany, in one region, on a single server node.
Credentials and secrets you give Journey Lanes are encrypted with AES-GCM and never sent back to the browser.
Every connection uses TLS (HTTPS); requests that change something are refused when they come from another site.
Organizations are kept apart: every request is checked against the organization and project it touches. Platform administrators get no access to project data.
Roles per organization (owner, admin, member) and per project decide who may see and change what.
Signing in takes a password and a 6-digit code sent by email; codes work once and stop after 5 wrong tries.
Anyone can use an authenticator app (TOTP) as the second sign-in step, with 10 single-use recovery codes; platform administrators need one for their pages.
Organizations on Business and Enterprise can sign in through their own identity provider (single sign-on with OpenID Connect or SAML 2.0) and require it. Only addresses in a domain the organization proved with a DNS record sign in through it.
Requests are logged for incidents (30 days). The audit log records who changed what in an organization, kept 1 year and sealed so that a changed or removed entry shows.
Vulnerabilities can be reported as security.txt says.
The database is backed up every night. Each backup is encrypted as it is made, to a key that isn’t kept on the servers (X25519 and AES-256-GCM), and kept at most 30 days.
Backups are not copied offsite yet: the only copy is on the same server as the database.
Restoring from a backup is written down step by step; no dated restore test is published here yet.
In a data breach we tell the owners of affected organizations within 48 hours, and report it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority within 72 hours where the law requires it.

Drawing a flow from a description sends the description and a summary of the scanned repositories (endpoints, entity and field names, roles, page names). “Help me” sends the step (its path, body and checks), the steps before it, and the source files behind that endpoint. “Explain this failure” sends that step’s result as run history keeps it, the steps before it, the environment’s sign-in type and the source files behind the endpoint, with anything that looks like a credential masked. Data location

Servers, the database and its backups are at Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany. Data is stored in the European Economic Area, except error reports (Sentry) and what is sent for drawing flows and “Help me” (Anthropic), which go to the United States. Those transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the company is certified, and on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses otherwise.

Security questionnaire

Question	Answer
Do you hold SOC 2, ISO 27001 or a similar certification?	No. Journey Lanes holds no security certification and hasn’t been audited by a third party. This page and the security page describe what the software does.
Where is data stored and processed?	At Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany. Data is stored in the European Economic Area, except error reports (Sentry) and what is sent for drawing flows and “Help me” (Anthropic), which go to the United States. Those transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the company is certified, and on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses otherwise.
Is the service spread over several regions or servers?	No. It runs in one region, on a single server node. If that node fails, the service is down until it is back or restored from backup.
How are backups made, and are they kept offsite?	Every night, encrypted to a key held outside the servers, kept at most 30 days. They are not copied offsite yet. There is no published restore test.
Is data encrypted?	In transit with TLS (HTTPS only). At rest, credentials and secrets (environment passwords, client secrets, tokens, two-factor secrets) are encrypted with AES-GCM in the application; backups are encrypted as they are made. The database disk itself isn’t encrypted separately.
How are customers kept apart?	Every request is checked against the organization and project it touches, with roles per organization and project. Platform administrators manage plans and accounts but get no access to project data.
How do people sign in?	Email and password, hashed with argon2id. After the password, a 6-digit code sent by email finishes signing in. Anyone can use an authenticator app (TOTP) for that step instead, with single-use recovery codes; platform administrators need one. Organizations on Business and Enterprise can also sign in through their own identity provider (OpenID Connect or SAML 2.0) and require it; those sign-ins skip the email code, and owners chosen as break-glass keep a password.
Is there an audit log?	Yes. Owners and admins see who changed members, projects, environments, secrets, tokens, billing and more, can search it and export it. Entries are kept 1 year, and each one is sealed to the one before it, so a changed or removed entry shows.
Are requests logged?	Yes, for incidents: which route was called (not what it contained), the answer’s status and time, the account, a shortened IP address and the browser family, kept 30 days.
How do I report a vulnerability?	As /.well-known/security.txt says.
What happens in a data breach?	We tell the owners of affected organizations within 48 hours of becoming aware of it, with what is known (data processing agreement, section 5), and report it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority within 72 hours where the law requires it.
Who else handles the data?	The sub-processors listed on this page, and nobody else.
